“What information do you need to give me a quote?”

Whether you're moving an excavator, boat, mining equipment, modular building or another oversized load, the more information you can provide at the beginning, the easier it is for our team to assess your transport requirements and prepare an accurate quote.

Don't worry if you don't know everything. Send us the information you have, along with some photos, and our experienced team can help determine what else may be required.

1. What Are You Moving?

The first thing we need to know is exactly what needs to be transported.

This might include:

• Excavators and earthmoving machinery
• Mining equipment
• Boats
• Agricultural machinery
• Modular buildings and demountables
• Industrial equipment
• Bridge beams and infrastructure components
• Containers
• Generators
• Oversized or over-dimensional equipment

If possible, provide the make and model of the machinery or equipment.

Manufacturer specifications can sometimes help establish important information about the load.

2. What Are the Dimensions?

Dimensions are particularly important when planning heavy haulage and oversize transport.

We generally need the load's:

Length × Width × Height

These measurements help our team assess the type of transport equipment that may be required and whether the overall loaded dimensions could create additional planning considerations.

For example, the height of the item itself is only part of the equation. Once it's placed onto a trailer, we also need to consider the overall transport height.

This can become important when assessing bridges, overhead infrastructure and other route constraints.

3. What Does It Weigh?

We also need the approximate weight of the item being transported.

Weight helps determine:

• Suitable transport equipment
• Trailer configuration
• Axle requirements
• Loading considerations
• Route planning requirements
• Whether additional approvals may be required

If you don't know the exact weight, provide the make and model where possible, along with any specifications you have.

4. Where Is It Being Collected?

We need the pickup location.

Ideally, provide the full address or as much location information as possible.

We may also need to understand access at the collection point.

For example:

• Is it a construction site?
• Mine site?
• Marina?
• Farm?
• Residential property?
• Industrial yard?
• Port?
• Is access sealed or unsealed?
• Is there enough room for a heavy vehicle to manoeuvre?

Site access can be just as important as the highway journey itself.

5. Where Is It Going?

We'll also need the delivery location.

Again, providing the complete address helps our team assess the transport requirements.

For complex or oversized movements, the journey isn't simply about calculating kilometres between Point A and Point B.

Depending on the load, consideration may need to be given to road access, structures, intersections, overhead clearances and the final delivery site.

6. How Will It Be Loaded and Unloaded?

Tell us whether the item can be driven onto the trailer or whether loading equipment will be required.

For example:

• Drive-on/drive-off
• Crane
• Forklift
• Winch
• Loader
• Other lifting equipment

We also need to know what's available at the delivery location.

If you're unsure, that's fine. Tell us what you know and we can discuss the options with you.

7. When Does It Need to Move?

Let us know your preferred transport timeframe.

For example:

• As soon as possible
• This week
• Next week
• Within the month
• Specific project date
• Flexible

Providing as much notice as possible is particularly helpful for complex oversized movements where additional planning or approvals may be required.

8. Are There Any Access Restrictions?

If you already know about potential access issues, let us know upfront.

Examples include:

• Narrow entrances
• Tight corners
• Low trees
• Overhead powerlines
• Steep driveways
• Soft or unsealed ground
• Restricted site access
• Mine-site requirements
• Construction-site restrictions
• Limited loading areas

Photos of the access points can be extremely useful.

9. Send Us Photos

Photos are one of the easiest ways to help us understand your transport project.

When requesting a quote, send clear photos showing:

• The entire item
• Front and rear
• Both sides where possible
• Wheels or tracks
• Attachments
• Loading points
• Surrounding access
• Pickup location

If there's something unusual about the load, photograph that too.

A few good photos can answer many of the initial questions our transport team may have.

What If I Don't Know the Dimensions or Weight?

That's okay.

You don't need to be a heavy haulage expert to request a quote—that's our job.

If you don't have all the details, start with:

What you're moving + where it's located + where it's going + photos.

If you have a make, model, specification sheet or other information, include that as well.

Our team can then discuss what additional information may be needed before finalising your transport solution.
